Biography

Jan Zimmermann is associate professor in the Department of Neuroscience and the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) at the University of Minnesota, where he also directs the CMRR non-human-primate division and a Medical Discovery Team. His lab studies how the brain represents and constructs subjective value, and how that signal is used to guide decision-making. The group is particularly interested in how neural coding strategies adapt to encode the statistical regularities of a changing environment, using electrophysiology, ultra-high-field MRI and computational modelling to investigate the mechanisms of complex cognitive behaviours.
