Biography
Aaron Batista is professor of bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh. His lab is dedicated to understanding how the brain controls action, focusing on how learning and context shape arm movements. Using a neural-populations approach, the group records the activity of dozens of neurons in cerebral cortex simultaneously and examines how their joint activity sculpts behavior. As part of SCENE, the lab is examining neural activity during skilled behaviors that involve precise sensorimotor coordination.
