Overview
The Data Science Core supports SCENE's laboratories in adopting common, recognized data standards — aligned with the FAIR principles — and develops, maintains, and improves both local (lab-based) and centralized data processing pipelines, built on DataJoint or equivalent database systems.
The core also maintains and develops methods for joint behavioral and neural analysis, such as DeepLabCut, in support of SCENE's mission. Rather than acting as a central IT department, the core serves as a hub of expertise: individual labs maintain their own infrastructure and develop these methods locally, communicating openly with the other teams and the Data Science Core staff.
What the Core Provides
- Support for adopting common, recognized data standards across all SCENE laboratories, in line with FAIR principles.
- Development and maintenance of local and centralized data processing pipelines (e.g., DataJoint or equivalent database systems).
- Maintenance and development of shared tools for joint behavioral and neural analysis, such as DeepLabCut.
- Ensuring, in close collaboration with each PI's group, that all data collected by SCENE members complies with the same formatting (such as a DataJoint, MySQL, or MongoDB queryable database) to facilitate data sharing within SCENE and public data release.
- Support in developing documentation that complies with FAIR standards, and Quality Control Checks for datasets stored in SCENE's central repository.
